Berkley College presented vbA with the challenge of designing and having built a residential hall for the White Plains, NY campus in a very compressed schedule. Modular construction over a concrete super structure made this possible. This project was given the temporary Certificate of Occupancy one year after the Planning Board issued approval, which is a testament to our firm’s talent, precision and coordination.

The residence hall is a six story, 48,000 s/f building with limited grade level parking due to lot size constraints. The construction consists of concrete floors and metal stud walls with a steel self-supporting structure which integrates into the shell of each module. The exterior is finished in thin brick veneer and stucco. The mansard roof is actually an elaborate parapet, which hides the elevator and stair bulkheads. The real roof is a flat EPDM roof with drains throughout.
