Lessons learned from Model Railroading

In hindsight, my experiences with model railroading as a young boy introduced me to imagination and creative space making. When I was six years old Santa brought me my first train…courtesy of my engineer uncle Victor, who had been a serious railroader in his youth. Lessons learned included how to create, build, design and rebuild towns and villages; creating a unique language. How the train flowed through the town, where retail buildings were located, the function of spaces and locations of homes; all things I learned by model railroading.

Perhaps the greatest lesson for me however, was how to create spaces.
